Originally from Jamaica, Tami is no stranger to African based rhythms and movement.
With a background in Contemporary, Ballet, Jazz, Modern and Tap she is a well rounded artist training with Contemporary Dance Companies such as The Company Dance Theatre, The Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, The National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica and Elizabeth Vickers Dance Studio.
Not only was she was awarded a scholarship to dance with The Alkins School of Dance for 2 years in the United Kingdom, but was one of only two girls chosen from the Caribbean to finish her A Levels training in ballet, jazz, modern, tap and piano and trained two summers at the Royal Ballet School in London and one summer at Miami City Ballet.
Increasing her dance repertoire She opened her own Samba Dance School in Singapore in 2011 teaching Samba No Pé, Samba Reggae and Samba Axé before moving to Sydney late 2012 and becoming Brazilian dance community locally and nationally.
Dancing Samba No Pe now for over 13 years, Tami has trained in Brazil for many years with the likes of Carlinhos Salgueiro, Rosangela Silvestre, Vera Passos, Paco Gomes, Vania Oliveira, Egili Oliveira, Mayara Lima, Luana Bandera, Clara Paixao, Raissa Olivera, Uillana Adães, Evelyn Bastos and so many other fine masters of Samba.
In 2014 she started Sambase Ire and has been running Samba Classes out of Triple Menace Studios for the past three years.
